Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Apologies for the absence this fall/winter season. Work kept me quite busy this time of the year. Luckily, I was free one weekend and had some time to craft together an ugly Christmas sweater. Just for funsies. I really miss DIY’s and crafting. This sweater was a good way to ease myself back into it. It was simple to make and I liked how it turned out so thought I’d share the progress + final product.
I was browsing Pinterest one night and saw a sweater with a reindeer throwing up all sorts of xmas goodness. I thought it was pretty cheeky and wanted to create my own version of it. Here’s how I put it all together, in photos:
- Sweater (I used a long sleeve tee because I couldn’t find an actual sweater in my size.)
- Foam stickers
- Felt paper / glitter paper
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
I found these little foam stickers at Michaels. The long sleeve tee, I found at Walmart. Everything else I had at home.
I didn’t do a good job documenting the process but I basically free handed the reindeer on felt paper, cut it out, positioned all the pieces on the sweater, and then glued everything down after I found the perfect spot for each candy cane, gingerbread cookie, and xmas tree.
Here is what it looked like pre-hot glue gun, in the scattered mess:
And the final product:
Making this sweater was actually very relaxing. It’s also pretty cool to see something come together from scratch. With work getting less busy heading into the New Year, I’m hoping I get more time to be crafty and creative.
I featured this sweater in a lookbook video on holiday party outfits, which I’ll be sharing in my next post. The video is live on my YouTube channel so you can watch it now too.
